What used to be the COURT OF JUSTICE is now called COURT
OF LAW, because we are resigned to admitting that true JUSTICE is beyond our
present comprehension.
Are then lawyers and judges liars or self-deceivers when
they claim that they promote truth and justice? The "pompous little ones": yes,
even if they don't know it, like most of us.
The legal system of "playing by the rules" is more than just a metaphoric guideline, but it plays into the hands of the shysters, for it can be bent to justify any dishonesty, treachery and frauds that glib specialists can commit with lucrative impunity.
Our proudly glorified "adversary system" can be used together with our "constitutional right to dissent"
to justify any abomination we choose to contaminate what we hold sacred.
"Sacred"? That smells like
religion... Religion is now being outlawed in favor of "progress", which consists
of a combination of deconstructionism,
homosexuality, abortion, same-sex marriage, bureaucratically formed and dissolved
family, etc.
The ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes (430-367 b. c.) is
described as wandering holding a lit lantern in full day light "searching for truth
and the truthful man". This image was reported to be a "white lie" to launder
the harsher truth: Diogenes paraded himself openly masturbating in the most visible spot of Athens' main
public square, to assert that man must have the courage to show the truth of a habit
that only cowards would hide...
Which image was a lie: the one with the lantern or the obscene display?
Covering obscenity was not likely by the ancient Greeks, whose
mythology and religion contained many images of similar and worse obscenities.
More likely, obscene images were censored by the Christians, but obviously not earlier than 4-5 centuries later after
Diogenes' time.
Like everybody else, the Christians were also in the habit of lying either to promote or
to hide the truth.
Or take the case of the reporters shooting a documentary movie of a civil war battle in China, just where it was taking place: regardless of all the cameramen most daring risks, the movie showed only some slammed window in some place, puffs of dust, and unrecognizable persons appearing and vanishing in unexpected spots where the unwarned cameras focused too late....
The fighting was real and furious, and the combatants had
more vital worries than posing for the cameras...
The true pictures were the truth, but
the resulting boring images were like a lie, for they gave the impression that
nothing relevant was happening.
Then, the reporters decided to build scenarios of the actual fighting,, including explosions, people acting being hit etc.--- with the necessary props and reproductions of whatever would render the scene as it truly appeared...
Well, there the lie reproduced the truth as it really happened...
Here the lie tells the truth...
But what about the despicable lies politicians, lawyers and virtually all disputants who end up believing their own lies?
They can articulate the truth in a manner that
induces the spectators to believe the opposite.
A lawyer or anyone can plant contrived evidence so that it can be exposed at a strategic moment to generate the desired
effect, regardless of the truth.
The political "ADVERSARY SYSTEM" has become an undisputed
fetish in which RIGHT/WRONG becomes WINNING/LOSING.
Already as a child in Europe, when I watched an American "wild West" movie, I was unable to believe that the virtuous and righteous was nearly always the better fighter and shooter, whereas life (as well as the then prevailing fascists, Nazis, communists etc,) showed the opposite...
Lying becomes a politician's honorable duty when he
publicly condemns a good opinion, law or action only because it is
supported by the opposing party. So they may call right what is wrong, and vice
versa, simply because they "play according to the rules".
That is especially
effective when the rules are revealed or clarified to the victim only too
late... Many believe in those rules as if by self-brainwashing. ***/
Countless salespersons either lie outright or by default, either by prevaricating,, describing non existing qualities or by avoiding an important subject.
Praising the person who is being fired and lying about the reasons of the "resignation" is now a normal ritual.
In electoral campaigns, even obviously honest, brilliant, successfully beneficial politicians can be falsely accused (ferociously or not) of the most absurd defects, or crimes.
We have seen a spouse lying under oath in court against her spouse to pretend that her honorability forced her to tell "even the truth", no matter what, even if it hurt her spouse (who was innocent). That borders on the psychotic, but it is more common than we want to believe...
The timeless LOVE exhortation, which reaches further than the pursuit of JUSTICE, is dismissed as an uncomfortable product of religion. LOVE is virtually excommunicated by the constitutional anti-religion zealots. This sanctimonious devotion to the constitution may well be motivated by a disguised (subconscious or deliberate) craving for sexual gratification,erosion of the family institution, catering to homosexuals [now politically embarrassing,, after discovering that "gays" are hardly 1-2 % of our population("10%" was a "prevarication" by the sexually abnormal Dr. Kinsey. Besides, family alone abhors free love, adultery, adolsscence excesses, disorderly behavior, lack of discipline, etc.).
Lies have become a good manner ritual: "Glad to meet you"; "You're welcome"; "My pleasure", "How are you?"; "Fine"... Some formality may be sincere, but mostly irrelevant, like nudity in a nudist cows community.
Diplomacy makes the interchangeability between truth and gracious deception equally practical for most purposes.
Disguises are life-saving or lethal only for their purposes.
Lies are used even in many religions if a "holy" level is attributed to them.
We lie to ourselves consciously or not.
Who is immune to lies?
Probably babies and puppies?
What is the point then?
Since we have the propensity to lie but are unwilling to accept lies from others, it seems that we are not the "social animals" we claim to be.

Each of us is born alone and dies alone as a mysterious center of a perceivable universe.
How and why?
Why did neither Zoroaster, nor Buddha, Socrates, Jesus and countless others leave no written message?
Are we in a hurry to find the answer in meditation or after-death?
